Virtual Payments

In today’s modern world, there are many things that make life easier, like phones, robots, and the Internet. In this first blog, I will be taking about things that make life easier and you should try them.

A Virtual Debit Card is a card number that you can add to any phone. Think of it as a normal card, but in a digital form.

It is the same thing but digital. These types of cards are free (from some banks and financial apps). All you need is a phone with a NFC Chip and an existing plastic/metal card. Your phone most likely is compatible with al of this. If you own a Samsung Galaxy S7+ – your phone is compatible. Do keep in mind that not all models have this functionality. You can use Samsung Pay to add one of these cards. It is the same is with iPhones. You need to have an iPhone 6S+ (excl. iPhone SE 1st Gen.). You can use Apple Pay as it is synced with the phone.

How can I get it?

For Android and iPhone users, I personally recommend using the app “Revolut”. It is an amazing app that has a very friendly interface and can give you up to three digital cards. There is also an option to get a plastic card and if you are a perent of a child older than 7 years old, you can make them their own card which you can control with Revolut Junior. The setup process is easy, but it does require a legal ID Card (varies in the EU, you need to be 18 to have this app but I think you can be 14 in Bulgaria). A passport is also allowed. Once you’ve registered, you can create a card and add it to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet (Apple Pay).

First, make sure you top-up your balance at least with EUR30 ะพr more. After you have done that, you need to add your card to Apple Wallet or Google Pay (I don’t know about Samsung Pay). Once you have created your card, it will automatically ask you if you want to add it to your desired app for phone transactions. Simply click “Add” and follow the steps.

After you have done this, you can feel free to use it in stores that have the Apple Pay, Google Pay or Contactless Card symbol on its door.

Thank you for reading my blog! To wrap up, my opinion of this is that having a digital card makes carrying your wallet kind of obsolete, you just need 20 bucks in cash and you are good to go. If you are planning on adding this to your phone, please make sure your password is not the “123456” type, as your credentials can be stolen if your phone is lost.
